Capturing Your Wedding Details one Stroke at a Time
Updated: May 4
Beautiful keepsakes are a wonderful add on to your classic wedding photos and video. Many artists specialise in bringing out the emotions, but one who particularly caught our eye is a talented lady in Siberia, Russia with her life-like sketches, and which can be of immense help in the wedding planning process also.
We would like to share with you an interview we did with Elena Zaichenko, whose instagram is a true delight @elen.sketches. Not just for bridal couples, Elena's work is especially useful for wedding planners along with stylists and decorators too. Read more about it below.
WHO IS ELENA
I'm Elena Zaichenko, an artist from Russia. I live in Siberia, in the most beautiful place of my country. I've been painting for many years. Nature and people have always inspired me to create.
As a child, I had an amazing teacher who taught me how to draw with different materials and instilled a love of creativity. I draw using various techniques, including digital and the wedding theme is one of my favourites.
Today I specialise in drawing wedding design sketches, venues and other illustrations in digital, no matter where in the world.
I am absolutely in love with my work and try to convey the ideas of my clients into high-quality sketches.
In my mind, sketches help to see the visualisation of a future idea. Also my illustrations are used in the design of wedding print and photo books.
HOW DOES IT WORK
You can send me email with a description of your project. Please feel free to inform me of as many details as possible. Add references, drafts and photos. Before a final illustration I usually make some drafts. It helps us to achieve the best results and the good news! I draw in a digital app, so we can always make the necessary changes in your sketch!
As a result, you will get a high dpi digital sketch that can be printed even in large format on paper (jpeg and pdf format). All your ideas will be reflected in beautiful sketches .
HOW LONG DOES A DRAWING TAKE
Usually the waiting time for sketches is about 7 days. WHO GETS IN TOUCH
Generally you may be surprised to know that it is wedding decorators, stylists and planners who contact me. They task me with sketches for the planning process. Most often, they need to make a single picture of the wedding design.
For example, they imagine what kind of flowers there will be, the ceremony and the design of the dinner, but they themselves cannot make a picture so that the couple can visualise and appreciate it. So then they turn to me.
The information about the venue, design, selection of furniture, decor and flowers, all of it.
Of course if a couple contacts me, I will also need this information as well. It all depends on a case by case basis. They send me the information by email or via WhatsApp for example. If you need to draw an illustration from photographs, then send me photos.
DO YOU WORK FROM PHOTOS OR ATTEND THE WEDDING
I draw a visualisation of the wedding decor at the moment of it being coordinated with the couple. Most often this happens in advance during the organisation stage of the wedding.
If I draw illustrations for a photo book, then this happens after the wedding, when the photos are ready.
CHOICE OF COLOURS, WHO DECIDES
The selection of colours is usually indicated in the sketch task. If a couple doubts the choice of colour between several options, then I can draw it so that they see and choose the one that they love. It’s better to specify these points in advance before starting my work on the sketches.
WHAT PAPER DO YOU USE
I work with mixed drawing techniques. I use watercolor paper and digital painting on an electronic graphics tablet. The client receives a file with a picture that can be printed on any type of paper or used in digital form. If the client wants the sketch to be drawn only on paper and sent by delivery, this is possible. Delivery works worldwide.
I work with clients around the world. Any country. We work and communicate online. Payment for the order and its dispatch also occurs online.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE DRAWING AND WHY
I love all my work of art equally. I am inspired by couples and their stories. Unique wedding concepts inspire me. Every year I notice that weddings are becoming more personalised and reflect the nature and attitude of the couple. I am delighted every time I read a task and imagine how I will draw this or that design. Each one is really unique.
I like to pay attention to details in my drawings, as detail is everything.
